We live in a residental area, on a housing estate. Our neighbour runs his business from his home, which includes long lorries delivering stock and skips being filled as early as 7 am on a Sunday, which is not quiet, old doors and windows with glass!!! Is this lawful ? `Cause it` s sometimes awful!! Ha bit of poetry. I`m not going to get heavy with them, but just wondered if it`s allowed, I know they don`t pay business rates. Thanks for the sensible answers.

I had a neighbour do exactly the same from next door, had done for years and with all the busy bodies there in the UK, I would have thought if there was any issue with the local authority,. then someone would have piped up well before now, only thing you can do is to speak with the environmental health department at the local council

Running the business from home is legal.

Actually causing a nuisance like you describe because of running a business from home is NOT.

I do not see any problem running a business from home unless specifically forbidden. Good luck in your business.:):)

The local council / environmental health are probably aware that your neighbour runs a business from home, but if sounds unlikely that they are aware of the amount of activity & noise this is causing. Is it possible that his business has increased in size since he initially set up from home? I'm suprised someone hasn't had a word before now.
