There are lots of free hosting companies out there although most require you to to haev some sort of advertising that they will force on your site. You also normally get some free web space with your ISP.
At the end of the day you always get what you pay for and if you are thinking of running a business online and want reliability and speed you really need to pay for your hosting.
Check out the secret data base of fee hosts (http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=navclient&hl=en-GB&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4GGIC_en-GBGB263GB263&q=free+hosting)

Thank you, Echocomputers. May you name some good free hosting companies and some that need payments?
Thanks,

When it comes to hosting I have not heard of any good free ones. I would have to agree that you're better off paying.

Thank you, tater03. But would you mind if you reply with some sites that offer free hosting. (I'm desperate.)

There are many free hosts some are shadier than others while some are wonderful. Just make sure you check to see which free host is going to be better. As some you can get very screwed over with even though its free you shouldn't get screwed over as much as it happens.
Is there anywhere by chance that might have reviews on some of the free ones? Or where do you guys go when you want to research one? Thanks
i may be able to offer you a free one
because im soo nice:):)

There is no such thing as "free" hosting. If you care about the reputation of your business, you'd try and stay away from this type of service.

You might look at Freewebs. It does run ads at the tops of free pages, but they aren't nearly as disruptive as many I have seen!
Pay for hosting if you want it to be reliable.
Free hosting can be fine for small personal websites...but anything professional...free hosting just won't cut it.

I agree, go for proper paid hosting if your running a professional website. And make sure you get what you need.
I have seen so many people trying to run full blown e-commerce stores and resource hungry web applications on cheep shared hosts. One of them had over 800 sites on one server and the client was wondering why their site was so slow!

If you want free hosting, why not pay for your domain name and host it yourself?
I registered mine (www.epsilon-systems.co.uk) and run off a Fedora Core 8/Apache Webserver on my Broadband link. I already pay £37 per month for 20Mb, so I thought why not do it that way/
If this idea appeals to you let me know & I would be happy to advice you on how to achieve it!
