hehehe we run linux on our servers... have dabbled in windows servers but decided to stick with what we know...

but.... at the end of the day its down to user/administrators preferences, they are the ones that will be working with it daily

same as the old story... windows or a mac... :eek:

Linux for web related services, Windows server for domain and office networks, Windows XP for the desktop.

That's the way I prefer it (although I do run ubuntu linux on my desktop machine and laptop!)

Sorry I have to disagree. Although I develop in PHP for Linux servers there is a place for MS based Web servers.

Have you heard that if you play a Microsoft Windows CD backwards it displays satanic messages...

But even worse than that if you play it forwards it will install Windows!

Im not so sure. I mean why waste resources running a desktop GUI that no one will see? I did have the view that you would go with windows servers if you wanted garunteed support for your OS but with players like Red Hat comming in and offering enterprise support, I can see no reason that Windows Server should be used over a 'Nix based solution.

My website is hosted on a windows server. Is there much difference for the end user? After all that's what counts.

That's a good point Steve and I guess the answer is no. Users will never no. Its just us sad geeks that like to moan about things :)
